We are the McNairs

We are the McNair Family…I’m Lissette, homeschool mom extraordinaire (𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘐 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘧𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘪𝘵 𝘵𝘪𝘭 𝘐 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘪𝘵), native to the beautiful island of Puerto Rico but settled in the state of Virginia with my amazing husband, Adam who was born and raised in Northern Virginia. We have two great kids who blow us away every day with their crazy antics, sense of humor, and love of learning. All four of us pride ourselves on our sense of humor (𝘮𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘶𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦) and traveling is our biggest passion.

Limited by school calendars and in-office work requirements, we traveled when we could, but when the pandemic hit, allowing my husband to work remotely, and schools announced virtual learning, we decided life is too short to be spent in front of a computer. So we pulled our kids out of public school (something I never thought I would do) and we decided to homeschool. I will admit, it was very scary and overwhelming, but the homeschool community rocks, the resources nowadays are endless and being able to spend time with our little ones, (the are only little once) while focusing our learning on their strengths and likes was worth every sleepless night I spent wondering if I was doing the right thing. 

Then one day it hit us...we can travel whenever we want!   No more school calendars or calling in our absences...we were free to come and go as we please. So now we take homeschool on the road as often as we can (planning trips carefully to minimize indoor time and contact with others because we are still in a pandemic) and we set off on learning adventures to create the memories that matter and hoping that by doing so, we raise our kids to be better people. 

Like so many traveling homeschool families, I started an Instagram page (still have no idea how to do anything there) to document and share our adventures in learning, but I quickly noticed that there were thousands of beautiful pictures and great stories, but not that many people actually sharing what they are learning on their adventures. Here's where I come in...I started this blog (bear with me as I have never done a blog before and I also don't know how to do this) to hopefully be a resource to other homeschooling families out there.  My goal is to post pictures from our travels and share with you what we learned while we were on that adventure. Maybe we can learn together! 

So here we are, late to social media/blogging game but happy to be here and show you what it’s like to travel and learn with the McNairs.
